CONTEST
INTERVIOLAS COMPETITION BOGOTÁ
The VII Festival Interviolas Bogotá 2023 «Latinoamérica Vibra» presents to the violist community of Colombia and Latin America, an artistic initiative for Bogotá and Latin America, which promotes the continuous growth of violists within the activities of the festival. Between September 24 and 30, 2023, rounds will be presented live at the prestigious Bogotá Theater of the Central University, located at Calle 22 No. 5-62, Bogotá D.C. Each round will be open to all active and/or passive attendees of the Interviolas de Bogotá festival, guest musicians and the general public. The select international jury will listen to each contestant, who will interpret works written and inspired by the richness and multifaceted possibilities of this peaceful instrument.
This contest has the alliance of renowned institutions such as the Central University, the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sergio Arboleda University.
We invite the entire violist community of Colombia and Latin America to participate in the 1st. Interviolas Bogota Competition.
ACADEMY
1. MASTER CLASSES:
This space is designed so that international and national guest teachers can present their theories and practices to active and passive participants, with the purpose of confronting techniques that allow a correct advance in instrumental training and making specific notes on the observations they find. relevant in active participants.
Participation in the master classes will take place through a video selection.
2. OUR WORKSHOPS
Each one of the workshops is open to strengthen the technique and a practice that allows the correct posture and use of the instrument for an ideal sound according to each repertoire. These workshops are in groups to connect with a varied feedback that enriches each meeting.
3. INTERVIEWS
The interviews are programmed with the purpose of publicizing the artistic work of different master violists around the world. With this, the festival opens the perspectives so that our participants can corroborate and be nourished by each experience.
The festival has had the opportunity to interview renowned artists such as Sara Ferrández, the Zemtsov Quartet, the Hsin-Yung Huang and Misha Amory Viola Duo, the Sabbah-Reyes Duo, viola and piano, among other artists.
4. CONFERENCES
Each one of the exposed conferences, has the intention of motivating and consolidating the knowledge of our participants, giving context and credibility to this instrument that has the sound of a story that makes it exciting.
5. PRESENTATIONS OF BOOKS AND RECORDS
The VII Festival Interviolas Bogotá 2023 «Latinoamérica Vibra», opens the space for the Masters and authors of books and records, to present their works and give us an opening to each of their contents and learn about their creative and management processes.
The festival has had the opportunity to present books such as “The Karen Tuttle Legacy”, A Resource and Guide for Viola Students, Teachers, and performance by Michelle LaCourse, Resonant Double Strings: A Guided Exploration of Just Intonation by Molly Sharp and Braunwin Sheldrick , The Viola Vademecum by Marvicperman Urbina and the records “Colombian Music for viola and piano” performed by the Ígneo Duo, Braunwin Sheldrick and Andrés Gómez, and Viola Lens, performed by Hsin-Yun Huang and Misha Amory.
This year there will be the presentation of the book El Vademecum de la Viola, Fundamental Bases for Violists written by the Venezuelan violist Marvicperman Urbina together with Steven Rojas.

“GROWING UP WITH THE VIOLA”
The PIJ program continues to be a renewing impulse that allows girls, boys and young people who are passionate about the viola, an encounter that nurtures their abilities and enhances motivation. The Children’s ensemble that has been directed by the Colombian teachers Diana Bedoya and Leonardo Valencia, and the Venezuelan Nelson Humberto Jiménez, has established itself as a space that inspires the new generations of violists and projects emerging talents.
This year we have the participation of the Venezuelan teacher Marvicperman Urbina and the Colombian violist Julián Enciso who will be in charge of the Youth Program, and once again we will have the participation of the violist/director Diana Bedoya in charge of the Children’s Ensemble.

ORCHESTRA OF VIOLAS BOGOTÁ
Our Viola Orchestra has been consolidated in each festival, today it has more than 60 violists on stage from different institutions in the country and Latin America. It covers an extensive repertoire with works of universal classical music, Latin American music and Colombian music and has had the opportunity to be directed by the Colombian violists Ricardo Hernández and Miguel Casas, and the Dutch violist Mikhail Zemtzov.
In our seventh version of the «Latinoamérica vibra» festival, we have made a careful selection of the Latin American repertoire that evokes our region and unites us with a feeling of belonging. This year we will have as guest conductor the Colombian Rubián Zuluaga, assistant conductor of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, the violist Andrea Carolina Sánchez, invited as concertmaster and the leaders Julián Linares, David Merchán and Julián Enciso.
